Wedding carriage crash by Mabie House Hotel – casualties named

Police can confirm that following the earlier crash on the A710 Dumfries to New Abbey road near to the entrance to Mabie House Hotel, all four people who were being carried on the horse drawn carriage were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Tartan CarraigesThe driver of the carriage was Simon Millar, from from the Annan area. He remains in DGRI where his condition is described as serious but stable. His daughter, Hannah Millar (18) was also onboard and was released from hospital following treatment.

The other two passengers were Lawrence Pennycuik (45) from Dumfries and his daughter, Donna Pennycuik (29), also from Dumfries. Neither person was seriously injured.

The above crash occurred about 1410 hours today and involved a Blue/ Grey Honda CRV motor car and a horse drawn carriage which resulted in four people being injured.

A local vet attended at the scene and treated the horses for minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and in particular to anyone who saw either of the above vehicles travelling between Dumfries and the Mabie Forest turn off prior to the crash.
