Young Enterprise Success for Team Medley

16 young business people from Stranraer formed a new business back in August as part of the Young Enterprise Company Program aiming to raise awareness of equality and diversity with primary school children. Last night they attended the Regional Finals and won so will be heading to the Scottish Finals in June.

Medley created a range of children’s storybooks with a theme of equality and turned these into audiobooks. On the night they picked up awards for best trade stand, best presentation, best report and overall winner.

Medley’s Chief Executive Blair Haswell said

“We are all so proud of our achievements this year and the success we had last night. We all really believe in our products and the difference they can make. We thoroughly enjoyed the finals in Dumfries yesterday and wanted to thanks the Young Enterprise Board for the experience”.

“The other teams who competed at the finals were also great! There was a huge range of different, innovative products on display and some great entrepreneurial spirit from all involved. A brilliant display of how much talent the region has! We want to congratulate all the other teams who won awards.”

“We were all so excited for the regional finals and are so proud to be going on to represent Dumfries and Galloway at the Scottish Finals at Hampden later in the year. We are also pleased to be able to share our message that it is okay to be different as it is at the core of everything we have done” said Ellen Watt, Medley’s assistant Managing Director.

We have all learned so much this year and can’t wait to share our story at the Scottish Finals. We have always seen this project as more than just a Young Enterprise product as we truly believe it has the ability to teach younger children about acceptance. We also feel it is important as a team to promote reading and literacy to younger children too.
