Plans for a £2.4million redevelopment of the Dock Park in Dumfries have been unveiled with lots of new features.

The Dock Park is a flagship park in Dumfries and designs for the redevelopment have been in the pipeline since 2005. The new plans include a new frontage at the Dock Park entrance, followed by a carpark for 98 spaces. New entry pillars would be created, leading on to a cafe then a play area with an outdoor gym.

Also included would be a large multi-purpose community event area which would be situated next to the bandstand. If the  plans do go ahead, this could be the new enue of the Youthbeatz event which hits the Dock Park on 13th August.

Praising the new vision, Provost Jack Groom said: “It looks tremendous.”
