Taxi driver blinded by green laser beam, on Glasgow Street, Dumfries

Police are investigating an incident in Glasgow Street near to the junction with Sunderries Avenue in Dumfries around 2105 hours on Wednesday 22 September. The driver of a taxi had a green coloured laser type light shone into his eyes from the vehicle in front while he was driving.
The victim, a 30 year old taxi driver suffered a momentary loss of vision as a result however managed to pull over to the side of the road safely. He has since had problems with his sight and will be attending to seek medical advice. The vehicle from which the laser was shone is a thought to be a silver coloured Honda Civic car. Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area to get in touch if they can assist with this enquiry, and also to anyone who may have suffered a similar incident.
Police are also warning of the dangers of anyone pointing or shining any type of laser type light at anyone, and in particular the dangers that could be caused through carrying out such a reckless act on the driver of a vehicle.
