COURT

A NIGHT out for workmates in Dalbeattie ended with one landing in court on a charge of assault.

Ian McTier, 25, of Halliday Place, Dalbeattie, pleaded guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court to punching workmate James Campbell on the head at the Birchtree Hotel in the town in July.

The court heard that the two men had worked together for about eight months and McTier seemed to have a problem working with the other man.

A solicitor said McTier, who had never been in trouble before had had too much to drink.

He was fined £200 and ordered to pay compensation of £200.
