THREE REMAIN IN HOSPITAL AFTER LOCKERBIE ROAD CRASH

THREE people, including two Annan Academy pupils, remain in hospital after a road crash near Kettleholm, Lockerbie, yesterday morning
The accident happened around 9.50am yesterday morning on the B723 Annan – Lockerbie road about a mile south of Lockerbie.
Renault Modus car being driven by a 72 year old woman from Annan was in collision with a Ford minibus being driven by a 61 year old man from Annan.
As a result the driver of the car was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with a serious leg injury. The two 17-year-old young women passengers in the minibus were also injured and one was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with a serious leg injury and the other was taken to DGRI with a spinal injury.
A Police Scotland spokesman said all three remain in a stable condition in hospital.
The driver of the minibus was taken to DGRI and treated for minor cuts and bruising.
The two female passengers in the minibus were Annan Academy school pupils who were travelling to Lockerbie Academy when the collision happened.
The road was blocked for several hours as firefighters and paramedics fought to free one of the pupils who was trapped in the mini-bus with the other pupil being treated in the back.
One was airlifted by air ambulance and rushed to hospital in Glasgow while the other victims of the crash were taken by ambulance to Dumfries Infirmary.
