Suspicious Fire in Gretna causes well over £9000 worth of damage

Around 0210 hours this morning, a fire was discovered in a shed situated at a house in Main Street, Springfield, near Gretna.

As a result of the fire the shed and contents were completely destroyed, as was a VW Passat car which was parked next to the shed. The car is valued at £8000, and the contents of the shed, which included tools and machinery is valued at well over £1000. Damage to the house was also caused by heat given off by the blaze.

Early indications suggest that the fire is suspicious and a full joint investigation between police and Fire and Rescue Service officers will take place later today.
