Regarded by many as the finest group to every to come out of Thornhill and 40 years after there final gig in 1971 Tangerine Flake are back.
Now known more simply as The Flake and with exactly the same line up that packed there amps away back in ’71 with Des O’Connell on Vocals , Mike Sheppard on Guitar
George Richardson on Keyboards, Stewart Kennedy on Bass and Alan Nash on Drums.
Formed in 1964 the core of the band played under many guises including The Few, The Adverts, Pipaluks Empire and eventually Tangerine Flake which was of course shortened to The Flake.
Managed by the late John Renicks The Flake gigged the length and breadth of the country and the forged a reputation as one of the finest 60’s bands on the circuit .
After a few social gatherings , meetings and a wee bit of arm twisting the guys have reunited to play a few gigs once again , they kick off there comeback over two nights Friday 21st and Saturday the 22nd of October at Thornhill Bowling Club were they hope to raise some funds for Thornhill Rising 5’s Group and Thornhill Gala fund.
