The Wonderland Experience Returns‏

Written by on June 13, 2012

Scotland’s largest free music event Youth Beatz will this year again see the return of The Wonderland Experience.

Prepare yourself to be propelled at a high octane rate down the rabbit hole and find yourself lost in the madcap world of Alice in Wonderland. Expect to face thought provoking challenges, have your boundaries pushed and enjoy an experience not to be missed.

The Wonderland Experience aims to raise awareness of issues affecting the lives of local young people. It provides a learning environment that has been described as ‘educational theatre at its very best’, ‘a remarkable revolutionary step in the direction of youth work’, challenging the young audience to think, react and learn.

It brings together young people, youth workers, health and theatre professionals to organise, create and deliver this project. If you are aged 14-25 and would like to be part of the team responsible for delivering this year’s Wonderland then now is the time to get involved. We will be running a free three week performance and production course for those interested in performing or making Wonderland come to life.

The programme provides workshops designed to give you the latest industry knowledge from specialists and practitioners from a broad range of creative industries. Workshops include; Acting and Character, Devising Theatre, Script Writing, Verbatim Theatre, Promenade Theatre, Voice & Speech in Theatre, Magic & Illusion, Theatre & Production Management, Graphic Design, Sound & Lighting Design, Set & Prop design, Composition for Performance and a special Stand Up Comedy workshop called “Stand and Deliver” run by the renowned Laughology.

To apply for your place on the course visit www.youthbeatz.co.uk/wonderland/summer-camp and click on the Wonderland link where you will find a more information on the course and a downloadable application form.

Applications must be received by the end of June and will then be invited to audition or interview at the beginning of July.

If Summer Camp is not for you but you still want to get involved, there are opportunities for anyone aged 18+ who are willing to volunteer their time, energy and/or skills to the Wonderland Experience then get involved in our ChangeMakers programme.
