Police are investigating an incident whereby a local 17 year old female was sexually assaulted on the Lockerbie road near Beattock. The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday 8 May 2011 between the hours of 01.00 hours and 02.00hours.

Detective Constable Lesley Thomson from the Family Protection Unit said: “The young woman was walking home from a night out when she was offered a lift by two males in a van.

“Once she was inside the van they took her to a secluded spot nearby and proceeded to sexually assault her. The woman then ran from the area before meeting friends and contacting police.

“Anyone who was in the area around the time or who may have seen anything of a suspicious nature around is asked to contact police.

“We are particularly keen to trace the two male occupants of the small white van. They are described as being around 30 to 35 years of age, one male was of heavy build and the second male was of slim build. The males were wearing orange boiler suits or similar.

Anyone with information are urged to contact police on 0845 600 5701 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111″
