It’s going to be a big season for Dumfries Ice Bowl in 2013.2014 Ice Hockey – they’re hosting not one, but two World Championship tournaments over the year.
It’s a bit of a coup for British Ice Hockey and follows on from the very successful Women’s Under-18 World Championship Division 1 qualification tournament in October 2012. It’s going to push the sport further into the public consciousness in the UK and is likely to attract a wide audience, media attention and plenty of interest.

The secretary of the Ice Hockey UK board, Andy French, was quoted as saying: “This is fantastic news for British ice hockey to host two prestigious tournaments. To get one of the two would’ve been fantastic but to get both is truly amazing. We are thrilled to be going back to Dumfries. We had so much backing and support there in 2012 and the IHF were very impressed with the tournament.”
