Fatal crash on A701 near Johnstonebridge – St Ann’s road last night

Police in Lockerbie are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the A701 Dumfries to Edinburgh Road near the C98 St Anns to Johnstonebridge road at around 18.50hrs on Thursday 3 March.
The vehicles involved were a white VW Caddy Van being driven by a 26 year old man from outwith the region, a red Ford Fiesta being driven by a local 77 year old woman and a white Renault tractor being driven by a local 44 year old man.
The female driver of the Ford Fiesta subsequently died as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision. Within the Fiesta there was also a 78 year old male passenger.
All parties involved in the incident were taken to DGRI to receive treatment to injuries sustained. The driver of the VW van sustained slight injuries in the incident. The passenger of the Ford Fiesta sustained serious injuries in the incident but his condition is described as not life threatening. The driver of the tractor did not sustain any injuries in the collision however was suffering the effects of shock.
