FM Service Issues

Written by on September 2, 2009

The transmitter which broadcasts our 107.3fm signal across Dumfries and the surrounding area is not performing as it should – there is a fault. Consequently reception beyond a two or three mile radius of Maxwelltown can be patchy. This is not as it should be – the whole of Dumfries and surrounding area should be receiving an excellent signal, only diminishing due to the presence of hills and larger distances.

The broadcast engineers who installed and commissioned the system are aware of the problem and have ordered a new antenna from Italy, which should solve the difficulties. The anticipated date for rectification is 19th September, after which the signal should be significantly stronger and our guaranteed good reception area greatly increased.

Meanwhile, we do apologise if you are finding reception not as you hoped it would be. You can always hear Alive on line, so long as you have internet access, of course.

Thanks for your understanding.

Iain, thanks for the feedback, and the MP3s. i’m planning to get to them tomorrow and start to process them into our system. Great to hear about your letter too. We’ll start asking listeners to feedback – good idea.

    See you soon
