Dumfries & Galloway Council remains committed to developing and strengthening our Council at local level and to provide services that meet the needs of the communities across the region.

As part of the new Area Framework model, our Council is enhancing opportunities for the public, community and voluntary sector to contribute to the decision making process through the development of Area Committee community meetings.

The first community meetings will be held in the Stewartry, Nithsdale Wigtown and Annandale and Eskdale areas to engage with members of the public, voluntary sector, community groups and key stakeholders on the types of key topics and issues that could be considered and discussed at future meetings.

At the first Annandale and Eskdale Community meeting in November there will be a consultation on future local bus service provision. There will be the opportunity to put forward suggestions for topics for future community meetings at this first meeting or suggestions may also be given to Julie Douglas in advance.

Community Meetings will take place across Dumfries and Galloway on the following dates:

Stewartry: Monday 24 October 2011, 6.30pm, Castle Douglas Primary School, Castle Douglas

Nithsdale: Tuesday 25 October 2011, 6pm, St. Georges Hall, Dumfries

Wigtown: Wednesday 9 November 2011, 7pm, Ryan Centre Theatre, Stranraer

Annandale & Eskdale: Wednesday 30 November, 6.30pm, Annan Town Hall

Our Council wishes to encourage as many people as possible to take part so that a wide range of issues can be considered in detail. We look forward to meeting as many individuals, community and voluntary groups and key stakeholders as possible.
