Hit and run picture released – St Mary’s Street incident

Police have now released a still photograph taken from a CCTV system in Dumfries on Monday 6 September 2010, the night that a 60 year old man was struck and knocked down by a vehicle which failed to stop after the crash.
Extensive police enquiries have been ongoing into this crash and police are now appealing for anyone who can help identify the vehicle or the driver to come forward.
As a result of this crash the 60 year old victim suffered serious injuries from which he is still recovering from at home.
Inspector Neil Hewitson of the force’s Road Policing Unit says “ this case is very much still being investigated and in this latest development we are now able to release a still photograph from a CCTV system in Dumfries which shows a blue coloured car which we are keen to trace. The car was seen in the area around the time of the crash, which happened about 23.50 hours at St Mary’s Street, near to Lovers Walk in Dumfries. Anyone with any information about this car, or the driver is asked to contact police on 0845 600 570-1, and they can also contact us anonymously, through Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
