House prices rise

Average house prices in Dumfries and Galloway have seen a sharp increase in the last month, according to new figures.
The YourMove Scottish House Price Index for June shows an average property selling for £152,507 – up 10% from the month before and almost 13% on the same period last year.
The growth has seen Dumfries and Galloway jump from 21st to 14th in a table of house values by Scottish region.
