Organisers of Youth Beatz have been celebrating recently on various fronts.
The Oasis Events Team, a group of young people involved in planning and organising the event, recently won an award at the prestigious Young Scot Awards for their involvement in Youth Beatz. The ceremony was held at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow with a star studded line up of celebrities including Olly Murs and Alesha Dixon. The Oasis Events Team managed to win the award despite outstanding nominations from all over Scotland.
Youth Beatz also won “Community Event of the Year” at the recent Nithsdale Community Achievement Awards. Held at DG One, the awards are held to recognise and celebrate the involvement and achievements of community members throughout Nithsdale.
A young person from the events team said; “Our award will take pride of place in the Oasis Youth Centre. Young people can’t wait to hear who is performing at Youth Beatz this year.”
This year will be the third consecutive Youth Beatz and will be held once again at Dock Park, Dumfries on Saturday August 13th. Organisers are finalising details of the full line up and are expecting to hold a press launch at the end of May when all will be revealed.
Confirmed funding from Nithsdale Area Committee, EventScotland and Awards for All have added more good news and ensure entry to the event will remain free for 2011. Anticipation is growing for what is sure to be the biggest and best Youth Beatz yet.
