SERIOUS ASSAULT– QUEENSBERRY STREET, DUMFRIES

Detectives in Dumfries are continuing enquiries and appealing for information after a 44 year-old man was seriously injured following an incident in Dumfries town centre on Saturday 1 August 2015.
Around 0115 hours on Saturday morning, police were called to a report of a man having been seriously assaulted following a disturbance in Queensberry Street, Dumfries.
The man was taken by ambulance to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and later transferred to the Western General Infirmary in Edinburgh where he is being treated for a head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as critical.
Detective Chief Inspector Colin Burnie from Dumfries and Galloway Division said today:
“Our investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and officers are currently carrying out door to door enquiries and studying CCTV footage to gather more information on this incident and whoever is responsible.
“Officers are following a number of lines of enquiry and I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident take place, or who has any information that may assist our investigation to contact Police Scotland on 101.
