Vemotion cameras protecting birds of prey

An operation involving wildlife Crime officers from Dumfries & Galloway Constabulary, has been set up in response to the suspected interference of raptor (bird of prey) nests within Dumfries & Galloway during recent years,

Various nest sights are now covered by remote cameras supplied by Vemotion interactive. If an alarm activates, the images are viewed from Police Head Quarters, if there is any evidence of a crime, Police officers will be despatched to the location.

Wildlife Crime Officer, Constable Jim Drysdale said: “If anyone is thinking of coming to Dumfries & Galloway to commit crimes against birds of prey, think again, you will be caught and you will be prosecuted.”

Anyone with any information on bird of prey nest interference is asked to contact police on 0845 600 5701 or any police officer. Information can also be left with the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or online at Crimestoppers.uk.org.
