Musical Evening at the Robert Burns Centre

On Saturday 21 August the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre in Dumfries is hosting a special musical evening with Annan cellist Alex McQuiston and soprano Soraya Mafi.

Their repertoire will range from light classical music to songs from the shows, and the cellist and soprano pair will delight you with music that know and recognise.

Cellist Alex McQuiston is from Annan, and for the last year has studied in the class of international soloist Johannes Goritzki at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, and in September will follow Johannes to Switzerland to complete his studies there.

Soraya is studying voice at the Royal Northern College of Music and is a recipient of the Junior English song prize. Soraya is a previous member of the Halle Youth Choir, National Youth Choir, The Halle Youth Orchestra and the English Youth Ballet. Performances in musical theatre include ‘Annie’ in ‘Annie’, ‘Hodel’ in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, ‘Laurey’ in ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Tuptim’ in ‘The King and I’ and she has sang at Wembley.

The concert starts at 7.30pm on Saturday 21 August and will last for a couple of hours, including an interval. Tickets can be booked from the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre, Mill Road, Dumfries. Telephone 01387 264808. Ticket prices includes a glass of wine.
