Police weather warning

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary have received a Met Office Flash Warning for Dumfries and Galloway relating to widespread icy roads over the period 1600 hours on Monday 6 to 1100 hours Tuesday 7 December.
There is a warning of outbreaks of sleet and snow spreading in from the northwest in late afternoon and early evening, falling as rain for a time near the coast. This will fall on frozen ground bringing the risk of widespread ice on untreated roads. In addition, 1 to 3cm of snow may accumulate inland. Frost will become severe as skies clear later this evening.
The public are therefore advised to consider very carefully their journey and only travel if it is really necessary. Those who do travel should understand the dangers of driving on icy roads.
