World Book Night at Ewart Library Dumfries 5 March 2011

To celebrate World Book Night 2011, The Ewart Library will be taking part in the largest book give-away ever attempted by hosting a World Book Night Party.

Councillor Graham Nicol, Chair of Resources Committee, said, “This is a dynamic and unprecedented celebration of adult books and reading and I am pleased to see our library service taking part. The night will see one million free books being given away nationwide by passionate readers. The event in Dumfries hopes to celebrate reading and our local authors and give away hundreds of free books. The idea of the night is to make reading attractive to everyone, both to regular readers keen to try a something new and to those who haven’t read a book in a long time or indeed ever.”

WritersLocal authors Rab Wilson, Vivien Jones, Gwen Kirkwood and Giancarlo Rinaldi will be introducing their own favourite book from the World Book Night Shortlist and helping to giveaway hundreds of free books.

The selection of 25 World Book Night titles offers a wide array of outstanding books encompassing all types of fiction including historical, literary, crime and commercial as well as memoir and young adult. There is something for everyone. Join the party at the Ewart Library, Dumfries on Saturday 5th March 5.00pm – 7.00pm. This is a free event.
