Mums and daughters get fit

Written by on January 22, 2011

Annandale Mums and Daughters are coming together for the next ten Monday nights in order to have fun, get fit and come together as a sporting community.

The Fit MAD (Mums And Daughters) project is being organised by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Leisure and Sport Active Schools Co-ordinator, Tina Lockhart. Funding for the project has been secured from the 2014 Communities Big Lottery Fund which focuses on building a legacy of well-being before and beyond the Commonwealth Games.

The free project, which is aimed at P7 – S6 girls and their mum or female relative, starts on Monday 24 January in the games hall at Annan Swimming Pool from 5.00pm – 6.00pm. Activities on offer include: indoor curling, archery, hockey, street dance, lacrosse, Zumba®, taekwon-do, and cheerleading. The list of activities is not exhaustive as the mums and daughters will have a say as to which activities they would like to try.

The group will be offered additional free physical activity passes for other activities in the Annan area as well as a bright pink hooded jumper and a trip to an outdoor activities centre at the end of the programme. Places are still available – contact Tina on 07921 038688 to book a place.

For those interested in badminton, a new Drop Shotz badminton club is starting on Wednesday 26 January, also in the games hall from 8.00 – 9.00pm. Places are free to all P7 – S4 pupils. Contact Tina to book a place.
