Sudden Death near Kirkcudbright – John Baird

Police have named a man found dead near woodlands near Kirkcudbright as 70 year old John Baird from The Merse at Kirkcudbright. Mr Baird was found in the early hours of Thursday 19 August 2010 after having been reported missing.
A large scale search and rescue operation involving members of the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, Royal Navy Search and Rescue personnel using a helicopter, and police officers was mounted and eventually located the body of Mr Baird. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death and the Procurator Fiscal has been notified.
