76 year old woman robbed in Brooms Road, Dumfries

Police in Dumfries are appealing for witnesses after a local 76 year old woman was robbed of a three figure sum of cash by a female.
The incident occurred on Brooms Road at around 07.15hrs on Monday 11 April. The woman was left shaken but uninjured from the incident.
The female responsible is described as:
* White, approximately 20 years old, with a slim build and shoulder length dark hair tied back in a pony tail. She was wearing a black knee length coat, black trousers and possibly a pink top.
Detective Constable Joyce Adams said: “Even though these incidents are rare in Dumfries and Galloway it was still a cowardly attack on an elderly member of the public.
“The lady collected her pension at the Post Office on St Michael Street and we believe the female responsible followed her home with every intention of taking the cash.
“We are particularly keen to trace this female. We are talking about an opportunistic robbery targeting a vulnerable person walking home alone.
“St Michael’s Street and Brooms Road are busy parts of the town and we are asking anyone who may have been travelling to work or was in these areas and seen any suspicious behaviour to contact us on 0845 600 5701. Information can also be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 800 555 111.
